The ASIS International Cultural Properties Council and its Houses of Worship Committee are deeply saddened to learn of the horrific killings in at Charleston's Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Our Cultural Properties Council-House of Worship Committee is working to disseminate information consisting of best practices and guidelines to enhance protection efforts for all houses of worship.
ASIS International House of Worship Committee recommends that prior to adding security equipment or making changes to a physical protection system that a security vulnerability analysis be conducted to ensure that cost effective security countermeasures are properly applied for best results. In South Carolina, ASIS has a local chapter that provides no cost vulnerability assessments for Houses of Worship.
